Mirage IIIE afterburner and nozzle

Snecma ATAR 09C5 engine nozzle for tail mounting.

This model has been tested in adjustment and dimensions in the model of the Mirage III E and R ( reconnaissance version ) of Italeri at 1/32 scale.

The Snecma ATAR now owned by Safran, is a powerplant used as an evolutionary base throughout successive french fighter-bomber models. It began to be designed in 1946 by a french development team lead by Hermann Oestrich, engineer participated in the german BMW 003 engine.

The ATAR 09 was used on the Mirage III, IV, V and F1 aircraft. As in other emblematic planes. The 09C was used on the Mirage III and V.

There are 4 pieces. Turbine, deflector, afterburner and nozzle. As can be seen in the photo is very careful the thickness of each part, for what the nozzle panels are almost transparent respecting the scaled thickness.

Although the afterburner on the ATAR 09 is extraordinarily long, we respected the real length and did not shorten it to fit the turbine and baffle in their proper position. Also the outer part of the afterburner keeps all its correct shape in case the modeler wants to show it through open panels in the fuselage.

Mirage III model kit not included.

The assembly is very simple and requires no additional work.

We have preferred how we usually do, to show in the afterburner all its external detail. So that the modeler could mount the afterburner protruding from the plane, with the rear fairing of the fuselage disassembled.

It is recommended special care with panels.

This kit requires no scratch work.
