As we have already mentioned, this design was commissioned by a renowned aeronautical expert, author of an important book on the SR-71. Today at the launch of this offer, 10 January 2025, there are still no SR-71 kits on the market in 1/32 scale. So it was foreseeable that this model will have very few sales, focused only on the world of engineering and the most exclusive collecting.
However, thanks to the invaluable help of this expert who provided us with abundant documentation and his unconditional support, we thought that it was worth making this complicated engine, contributing through modelling, an award for an engineering feat as impressive as it is important in the history of aviation.
The model ordered by the customer, includes most of the tubes. Otherwise it would have been a prohibitive task for any modeler, to cross in different layers of these pipes with scratch using metal cable.
The model shall include decals or stencils to make visible the numeration and warning notices in bleeding ducts.
Scratch
The modeler should add if desired, a few very fine cables to represent the electrical wiring, and a few tubes of the most fine caliber that we did not want to reproduce because they are too thin leads to maintain a precise finish.
As always, we use the best 3D SLA laser printers. Much more accurate than any other 3D printing technology. But this small number of cables and pipes of small caliber, would be so thin that they would not be practical or resistant to the minimum friction.
